Screening and suspected cancer
Antevion Pathways
PlannedAntevion Pathways is designed to carry the same core into screening: after a positive screen or a written suspicion of cancer, each next step will have a named owner, and the clock will start at the first sentence that raises the suspicion.
Planned products are plans, not current operations. Each will be subject to its own regulatory review before any pilot.
The gap
What it addresses
After a positive screen, the next step needs an owner.
A positive screen, or a sentence in a report or a referral letter that raises a suspicion of cancer, is the start of a pathway. Until someone acts on it, it is prose in a document, not a task in anyone's queue.
Antevion Pathways is designed to give the next step a named owner and to show where the time goes, from the first written suspicion onwards.
Workflow
How it is designed to work
-
Will record and quote
It will record the positive screen, or quote the first sentence that raises a suspicion, in a report or a referral letter.
-
Will give the next step an owner
Each next step, such as a colonoscopy after a positive stool test, will go to a named owner the health unit has configured.
-
Will start the clock at the first sentence
The suspicion clock will start at the first written suspicion: it will measure the interval and never judge a case.
-
A person will confirm each step
A later exam or appointment will be proposed as the step done, for a member of staff to confirm; nothing will close automatically.
-
Will show where the time goes
It will report, with its coverage, how long each stage of the pathway took, without ranking patients or cases.
Example
From the first written suspicion to the next step
Quoted sentence
Lesão com características suspeitas; recomenda-se avaliação em consulta de especialidade.
Quoted from the signed report, as written. Translation: “Lesion with suspicious features; assessment at a specialist appointment is recommended.”
What is recorded
First written sentence 03/02
Interval measured
Referral 17/02
- Owner
- Health unit, named person
The interval will be measured; no case will be judged.
Guardrails
Its guardrails
It will be built within these limits.
- It will stay out of screening invitations and of any automated choice of who is invited.
- It will measure the interval and never judge a case.
- It will never suggest an interval or a risk score, and never rank patients.
- A person will confirm every step and every closure.
- A separate regulatory review before any pilot.
Designed for
Health units and screening services, and the family-health and hospital teams that own each step after a positive screen.
Same core
Every Antevion product is designed on the same core: it quotes what a clinician wrote, gives it an owner and proves whether it happened. It never generates an interval or a verdict; a person decides.
